Accountability & safeguarding
Trust is one of our most important institutional assets.
Whether resources come from a donor, a partner, a well-wisher or the community, we accept the responsibility to use them carefully, document our work and account for what we do.
Financial accountability
Our Constitution provides for annual budgeting, financial oversight, annual audit by a certified auditor and financial reporting to donors, stakeholders and the public. We work from approved budgets, maintain supporting documentation and monitor expenditure against approved programme budgets.
Governance
An Executive Board provides oversight and strategic direction while the Executive Director manages day-to-day operations. Our Constitution, adopted on 21 June 2024, provides for quarterly Board meetings, annual general meetings and monthly staff meetings.
Safeguarding and child protection
Because we work with children, women, youth and vulnerable communities, safeguarding is central to who we are. We maintain reporting and referral mechanisms, train staff and volunteers on safeguarding expectations, and respond appropriately to concerns and allegations.
Data protection and privacy
We protect confidential beneficiary information and promote responsible use of photographs, stories and personal information. We protect the dignity and confidentiality of beneficiaries when documenting and communicating our work.
Code of conduct
A Code of Conduct sets the standards expected of everyone working on behalf of the Foundation, including staff and volunteers, with clear roles, appropriate supervision and ethical standards.
Anti-fraud and anti-corruption
We maintain an Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption Policy and separate authorisation and accountability responsibilities as our systems develop.
Conflict of interest
A Conflict of Interest Policy governs how decisions are made where a personal or organisational interest could affect judgement.
Whistleblowing
A Whistleblowing Policy allows concerns to be raised responsibly and without fear, supported by appropriate reporting and referral mechanisms.
Complaints and feedback
A Complaints and Feedback Mechanism allows communities, beneficiaries, partners and the public to raise concerns and give feedback on our work.
Monitoring, evaluation and learning
Our approach moves beyond counting activities to understanding change. We measure reach, activities, outputs, outcomes, quality and sustainability, using attendance records, beneficiary files, follow-up forms, financial records and photographs held with appropriate consent.
